Intern Profile:
Name: Tishiana Mann School: UC Berkeley c/o 2014 Major: Economics Position: Sales & Marketing Intern |
Hi. My name is Tishiana Mann. I am a rising junior at the University of California, Berkeley and a Sales & Marketing intern this summer at Achievo Corporation.
I have worked at Achievo for about a month now. I am having a great time so far and feel like I am learning a ton about B2B marketing, the tech industry, as well as life in general.
Here are some of my favorite memories with Achievo:
1. Meeting the other interns and the rest of the office. Everyone at Achievo is very welcoming and friendly!
2. Going out for shaved ice and dessert. It was my first time having Taiwanese brick toast— delicious!
3. Conducting research for our VP's speech to be given at the 5th Global Outsourcing Summit in Yunnan, China about new outsourcing opportunities spurred by the global economic crisis and the most recent technology trends. You don't get to learn about this stuff from college textbooks!
We're in "the cloud!"
4. Getting trained in B2B lead qualification and interpersonal sales strategy. This meeting lasted for more than 3 hours, but we had a lot of fun! We learned a few useful tricks that could easily be applied to almost any social situation. Thanks for the tips, Ellis!
5. Spending my 20th Birthday at the office. Here are pictures of the email I got about an "urgent meeting," and the surprise that awaited me in the conference room! It was Shreyas' (another intern) birthday too. After eating cake, the adults gave us great advice that made me appreciate my youth in a new way, and got me excited about life's adventures that await. It was a really special afternoon!
6. Meeting Jane at the Chinese Leadership Club dinner. She was an engineer and entrepreneur before she became an investor. It was inspiring to meet such an accomplished professional. She immediately became one of my role models.
7. Giving our second presentation to the office about social media and how Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn can be helpful for B2B marketing. This was the day I felt Chia and I had both improved our presentation skills. We even got an applause at the end!
8. Receiving an aloe vera plant from Mary, Achievo's accountant. I had told her how I accidentally burned my hand while making tea, and the next day, she showed up with an aloe vera plant which can be used to help heal the skin. Mary is the sweetest!
Some things I am looking forward to:
1. Meeting Bud Mathaisel, Achievo's Executive Advisor. He contributed to PwC's technology forecast this year. We get to have lunch with him next week! So stay tuned.
2. Taking a Mandarin class at the San Jose Learning Center. Modern business is global, and I am really excited to learn this language! Classes start next week and continue until the end of summer. 祝我好運! (Wish me luck!)
3. Bonding Day! Interns were in charge of planning a team bonding activity for our office and some of our partners. It's a surprise... but we're looking forward to a day of lots of fun.
Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you enjoyed it.
